Before this crystal was in your hand, it was inside the Earth. Deep inside - in darkness, under unimaginable pressure, at temperatures that would reduce everything familiar to ash. For millions of years it grew, atom by atom, mineral by mineral, into the precise geometric structure you now hold. It did not hurry. It could not be rushed. The Earth simply continued doing what the Earth does - creating, slowly, with extraordinary patience and precision.
Earth Day is celebrated every year on 22 April as a reminder to pause and honour this planet that holds us. But for those of us who work with crystals, every day carries a version of this pause. Every time you hold a healing stone, you are holding a direct piece of the Earth’s history - a relic of geological time that makes human lifespans feel brief and beautiful. On Earth Day 2026, we want to tell you that story. Where your crystals truly come from. How they are born. And why the Earth deserves our deepest reverence for making them.
The Earth is a crystal factory - and it has been running for 4.5 billion years. There are three primary ways crystals form, and each process is a quiet miracle of chemistry and time.
Magmatic Formation - Born from Fire
Deep beneath the Earth’s surface, molten rock called magma moves slowly through the crust. As it cools - sometimes over millions of years - the mineral atoms within it begin to slow down and arrange themselves into repeating geometric patterns. These patterns are crystal lattices, and the slower the cooling, the larger and more perfect the crystals that form. Amethyst and Citrine are born this way, inside volcanic rock cavities called geodes, where superheated silica-rich fluids crystallise over extraordinary spans of time into the purple and golden formations we recognise. The geodes themselves can take 100 million years or more to form. The amethyst cluster on your shelf is older than the dinosaurs.
Hydrothermal Formation - Born from Water
Not all crystals form from cooling magma. Some of the most beloved stones - including Clear Quartz and Pyrite - form through hydrothermal processes. Imagine superheated, mineral-rich water moving through cracks and fissures deep in the rock. As this water cools and the pressure changes, the dissolved minerals precipitate out and deposit themselves layer by layer onto the rock walls. Over tens of millions of years, these mineral deposits build into crystals of extraordinary clarity and structure. Clear Quartz formed this way can be so geometrically perfect that it was once believed to be permanently frozen ice - the ancient Greeks called it ‘krystallos,’ meaning ice.
Sedimentary Formation - Born from Time
Some crystals form at the Earth’s surface or just below it, through the slow accumulation of mineral-rich water over geological time. Malachite - with its extraordinary green banding - forms when copper-bearing water reacts with limestone, depositing layer upon layer of copper carbonate in caves and rock crevices. Each visible band in a piece of malachite represents a distinct period of mineral deposition, sometimes spanning thousands of years per millimetre. When you look at the concentric rings of a malachite stone, you are looking at geological time made visible.
What all three processes share is this: none of them can be hurried. Crystals are among the most patient objects on Earth. A natural crystal that took 50 million years to form cannot be replicated in a laboratory in a week - not in any way that carries the same depth of energy, history, or geological integrity.
Every crystal at My Soul Mantra begins with a commitment: we will only ever sell what we would use ourselves. Our crystals are sourced from established, reputable suppliers across India and internationally - mines and crystal markets known for producing authentic, high-quality natural stones. Before any crystal enters our collection, it is evaluated for authenticity and quality. We do not source lab-grown stones. We do not carry dyed or artificially treated crystals. What you see is what the Earth made. Browse our full crystals collection to explore what’s available.
Certification matters to us deeply. Each crystal in our collection is verified as a natural, genuine stone - not a synthetic imitation or a natural stone that has been chemically altered to appear more vibrant. In a market where fake crystals are increasingly common and difficult to identify visually, this certification is our promise to you: the stone you receive is exactly what it says it is.
Before any crystal is packed and shipped, it is cleansed of residual energies from handling and transit, and energised using traditional methods so that it arrives at your door already aligned and ready to work with your intentions. A crystal that has sat in a warehouse or passed through many hands carries accumulated energy. We clear that before it reaches you, so your experience with it begins fresh and clear from the very first moment.
Our 4.8-star rating and 368+ verified reviews are not just a metric - they are the accumulated trust of a community that has received genuine crystals and felt the difference. Authenticity, in the crystal world, is everything.
The crystal market has grown enormously in India over the past decade - and unfortunately, so has the volume of fake, synthetic, and dyed stones being sold as natural crystals. Here is what to look for:
• Temperature test: Real crystals - particularly Quartz-family stones - feel noticeably cool to the touch when you first pick them up, even at room temperature. Glass and plastic fakes warm up quickly and feel ambient almost immediately. Hold the stone in your palm for ten seconds. A real crystal stays cool longer.
• Bubble check: Hold the stone up to a light source. Fake crystals made from glass often contain tiny air bubbles trapped inside - visible as small spherical inclusions. Natural crystals may have inclusions, but they are irregular, not perfectly round. Round bubbles almost always mean glass.
• Too-perfect warning: Nature is not factory-precise. A natural crystal will have minor variations in colour, minor inclusions, and slight asymmetries. If a crystal looks too uniform, too perfectly coloured, and completely flawless, treat it with scepticism - particularly for stones like Amethyst, Citrine, and Turquoise, which are frequently faked or dyed.
• Weight and hardness: Real crystals tend to be denser than glass equivalents. Quartz, for instance, has a Mohs hardness of 7 - it will not scratch easily. If a stone claiming to be Quartz scratches with a fingernail, it is not Quartz.
• Certification and sourcing: The single most reliable protection against fake crystals is buying from a certified, reputable source that can verify the authenticity of what it sells. Always ask for provenance. Always buy from sellers who stand behind their stones.
On Earth Day, every choice we make is a small act of reverence. Choosing an authentic, naturally formed crystal - one that took millions of years to grow inside this planet - is one of the most Earth-honouring things a crystal lover can do. At My Soul Mantra, our entire collection is built on this principle: real stones, genuinely sourced, certified, and energised with care. Whether you are drawn to the clarity of a Clear Quartz, the calm of an Amethyst, or the vitality of a Carnelian bracelet - every crystal we carry was made by the Earth over a span of time we can barely comprehend. Honour that. Choose real. Visit mysoulmantra.com and shop with confidence. Link in bio.
Where do healing crystals come from?
Healing crystals form naturally inside the Earth through three primary geological processes: magmatic (from cooling magma, like Amethyst and Citrine), hydrothermal (from mineral-rich water in rock cracks, like Clear Quartz and Pyrite), and sedimentary (from mineral deposits over time, like Malachite). These processes take millions to hundreds of millions of years. Every natural crystal is a direct product of the Earth’s geological history. You can explore a wide range of naturally formed crystals in our crystals collection.
How do I know if a crystal is real?
The most reliable indicators are: the temperature test (real crystals feel cool to the touch and stay cool longer than glass), the bubble check (glass fakes often contain round air bubbles), and visual inspection for too-perfect uniformity (natural crystals have minor variations). Weight, hardness, and the presence of irregular natural inclusions are also strong indicators. Most importantly - buy from a certified, reputable source that verifies authenticity. At My Soul Mantra, every crystal is certified as a natural, genuine stone before it is listed or shipped.
What are ethically sourced crystals?
Ethically sourced crystals are natural stones that have been mined and traded through supply chains that prioritise environmental responsibility, fair labour practices, and transparency about origin. In practice, this means buying from suppliers who can trace their stones to known mines, who do not use child labour, and whose extraction methods minimise ecological damage. For crystal buyers, the most accessible form of ethical sourcing is choosing certified, authentic stones from reputable sellers - rather than uncertified stones from unknown origins sold at unusually low prices.
Are lab-grown crystals as powerful as natural ones?
Lab-grown crystals are chemically identical to natural ones in structure - but they are not the same energetically or spiritually. A natural crystal carries within it the energy of the geological process that formed it: millions of years of pressure, heat, mineral interaction, and the Earth’s own electromagnetic field. A lab-grown crystal is produced in weeks or months under controlled conditions. It lacks this depth of formation and the energetic history that crystal practitioners value. At My Soul Mantra, we carry only 100% natural crystals - never lab-grown. Explore our Amethyst collection and
